Relax… It’s just a game

Walking a game of golf is not the most physically demanding of all sports. However, the combination of physical exertion from lugging your bag for 18 holes and the constant mental focus can cause you to be completely taxed by the end of the day.

If you’re a score junky, thoughts of how you could have played that course differently cloud your mind and give you restless sleeps. The key is to completely relax your body and mind after a round – to not only sooth your muscles, but to melt your brain into chilled out bliss.

Try these tips after your next round of golf:

  1. Seek out those comfy lounge chairs in the clubhouse, in a coffee shop or in a restaurant. Sip on some herbal tea or a glass of red wine (depending on the time of day) and have a friendly chat with your golf-mates. If you’re solo, absorb a good book.
  2. Take advantage of the clubhouse amenities that are often offered like spa treatments, massages, and manicures. If you’re on a budget, run a warm bath and light some candles. A bath may sound cliché, but really, what beats a nice soak in the tub?
  3. Do something completely touristy. This may not sound like the most obvious way to relax, but taking in local attractions like a waterfall, an amazing view, or a local farmer’s market can transport your mind and body away from any stressful feelings.
