Jimin Kang joins the Nivo Family

Born in South Korea, the always smiling Kang had a challenging 2011 season, dealing with injuries and illness. As the season went on, she however slowly started feeling better and was able to finish it on a strong note, earning a third place finish at the LPGA HanaBank Championship in October.

Kang played on the Futures Tour from 2002 to 2004, winning three tournaments as well as the 2004 Player of the Year award. Finishing atop the Futures Tour money list in 2004 earned her exempt status for the 2005 LPGA Tour season. Kang didn’t waste any time making her mark on Tour, winning the 2005 LPGA Corning Classic. Her second win came in dramatic fashion at the 2010 Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia where she made birdie on three of the last four holes to edge out Juli Inkster by one stroke.

‘’As an up and coming company, we are thrilled to add a player of Jimin’s calibre to our team, it’s not every day you get the chance to sign a proven winner’’, said Dominic Turgeon, Marketing Manager, Nivo Sports. ‘’Her always positive attitude and trademark smile are exactly what we are looking for in a player. We look forward to a lengthy and successful partnership between Jimin and Nivo’’

Kang turned professional in 2002 after a distinguished amateur career that began with an American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Rolex All-American selection in 1996. In 1999, Kang won the WIAA state and district championships, the Washington Women’s Amateur Championship and was the runner-up at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship. From 2000 to 2002, Kang attended Arizona State University where she was a Second-Team All-Pac-10 selection for the 2000-01 season and earned First-Team All-Pac-10 honours the following year after winning the 2002 Pac-10 Championship.
